What took me so long, to start investing in Real estate???

Question

Good day everyone,

I am novice investor, new to BP. I am still asking myself, what took me so long to start investing in Real estate, but I guess things are meant to happen when they are supposed to. I just finish reading a book "The Beginners Guide To Real Estate Investing" and also another on Tax Lien investing. I know there will be many more books I will need to read but now I am very excited and I want to get this going. I am currently interested in flipping and then move into renting. I would appreciate any information, that anyone has to offer and I would most appreciate the information that can prevent me from making the costly, sometime common mistakes.

Welcome! It's never too late to get involved and find something you love in life. My advice is to stay true to yourself. It's easy to get caught up in all of the big talk around you and get out of your comfort zone. If a property feels too scary to dive into, then it may not be right for you. There are a lot of opportunities out there, so don't jump on the first one.

Especially in the beginning, do flips with cosmetic fixes needed and not much more. Go through the process of hunting for the house, estimating a value for the house post-renovation, estimating a budget, trying to stick to that budget, hiring people around you that want to help, and learn from all of it.

Learn from those around you and from yourself. Take bits and pieces of advice from everyone trying to help you and create your model.

Thank you Darrell, Fay and Rachelle for responding and for welcoming me to BP. I will follow up on your suggestion, for now I am like a sponge. How have your experience been so far. Also did you start on BP as basic and then upgraded?? If you did, is it worth it? Are you now privy to much more.

Welcome, Leon! I'm new too. I listened all the BP podcasts. Since most of them are interviews, I learned a lot from personal success stories and mistakes. Check out "Events & Happenings" under the "Network" tab. You may be able to find a meetup near your area. That's another great way to learn. Good luck and have fun!
