Student investor in Orlando, Florida!

10 Replies

My name is Nicholas Patricio and I am a student at UCF looking into learning as much as I can about real estate. My goal is to learn as much as possible so I can start real estate investing as soon as possible, I'm currently looking into "House Hacking" to be able to get a house near UCF and rent out the other rooms to live potentially rent free! I hope to learn a whole lot in this forum and I am excited for anyone's input.

@Nicholas Patricio welcome to Bigger Pockets.

When it comes to courses I like Ron Legrand. His courses are pretty expensive. However, he does some free and/or some cheap full day sessions in Orlando every once in awhile. If you are new to real estate and have the opportunity to attend I recommend it.

We also have local real estate investment groups, CFRI and GoREIA, which is a great place to network and also learn about different investing techniques when they have guest speakers and special events like bus tour for rehabbers.

Good luck getting started. I am a local investor / agent feel free to connect.

Thank you very much!
I'll definitely look into when Ron legrand is in town and I'll check out CFRI and GoREIA and any other local real estate investment groups.
How is the market in Orlando if you don't mind me asking?

@Nicholas Patricio

Welcome to Bigger Pockets. You are at a great position in life to get started. House hacking near a university has great potential.

 Orlando is a hot market right now. We are approaching the slower months, however, I expect the market to pick up right where it left off after the holidays.

@Nicholas Patricio this is awesome! Glad to see another student interested in property!

Having an apartment in a area close to universities will always be a winner as there is a constant need for student accommodation.

For now I would recommend starting on the BP podcasts, not only are they highly informative, but the investor stories are most captivating.

Enjoy your time!
