Finding distressed houses

Hi.. I am a newbie from Mississauga, Canada.  My plan is to find distressed houses in the USA,  and flip..  however, I have difficulty assessing areas of interest. Anyone have any ideas for me? Thanks

Why do you want to find distressed houses in the USA and not in Ontario?  There are diamonds in everyone's back yard. I would first master your local market before you start investing in an area that is thousands of miles away.  Just my two cents.
