Noob from Brooklyn, NY

Hey y'all;

I just joined up a few weeks ago. I found out about this site while cruising a reddit financial independence conversation. 

I've always had an interest in real estate. I've been following the markets here in NY metro area for over a decade. I'd like to learn more about buying and holding properties for the long run. I hope to supplement my income, learn the ropes, test myself on whether or not being a landlord is for me, and in general build a catalog of properties so that I can one day transition out of working for the man and in general live a less stressed life. 

I'd love to chat with folks who are also pursuing or have successfully achieved my goals. I'll welcome any war stories you have to offer!
