Hi! My name is Emily, and I'm a young professional in Boca Raton who just recently became interested in the idea of real estate investment properties and rentals. I came across The Book on Investing in Real Estate with No (And Low) Money Down by Brandon Turner--which, incidentally, is how I came to BiggerPockets!--just yesterday and I'm already three chapters in with a lot of ideas about how I can increase my monthly income via real estate investment properties. Pending a lot of research, of course!

At present, I have no background in real estate, but I've always been a strong believer in learning as a lifelong process and what I do know are a lot of folks in the construction business! The first goal I've set myself is to have a look at all the resources available in this community--this was my first stop :)--but my eventual goal is to find a multifamily unit, ideally something like a fourplex, for buy-and-hold rental and lay the foundation for other future investments.

House flipping is another area of interest for me, as I've already got some solid connections in the construction industry here, but given my financial situation, a buy-and-hold property with the potential to offer steady income seemed like the more financially sound investment to start.

I look forward to speaking with you all!

Hi @Emily Landers

Welcome to the BP community! Glad to have you on here. Your goals sound good to me. I'd encourage you to get connected locally through your REIAs (check meetup.com) and BP meetups. Also to not be afraid to take the first step even if you don't know everything. If you know what you need for the 1st step you have what you need to make it. People on here will be happy to guide you through and give you peace of mind as well. All the best!
