@Ayodeji Kuponiyi

Thank you, Ayodeji!

@Mark Nolan

I appreciate the link, I'll be sure to check out the posts there!

@Doron Nissim

Hello neighbor! :) It's good to see someone from Boca Raton! I've noticed that there is a LOT of competition in this area, but I'm hoping that means I can easily find someone who's willing to allow me to work for or with them and maybe learn a bit in the process! Could you PM me the information about this investing class? Deerfield is just outside my door!

@Jason M.

Thank you, Jason!

@Danielle Fattizzi

I have been looking at the local meetups, and so far I have a few lined up but it looks like I've already missed most of the ones for this month. Thankfully October is right around the corner! Thank you again for your advice, I really do appreciate you taking the time to drop by and share those tips! I'll be sure to put them to good use, and hopefully I'll be in a position to pay it forward someday soon :).

@Jon Huber

Perfect! I used to live in Delray Beach. Sending a PM your way now!

@James Meyer

Thank you! It's good to see another face from my area!

@Brett Snodgrass

Thanks so much for the welcome, the advice, and the well wishes! I'm bookmarking meetup.com right now! It looks like there are a lot of meetups in my area for real estate investment associations, and I've already got a good idea of where I'd like to start networking.

@James Wise

Thank you, James!

@Danielle Fattizzi

Danielle, I appreciate you taking the time to welcome me to BP! That's excellent advice, and probably something I could stand to remind myself of every day! What would you recommend starting with, if I may ask? I'd thought I could start simple and do a few practice runs on properties in my area by running the numbers and familiarizing myself with my options. "How can I afford this?", as it were. However, I know actually buying the property is really only the first step, and one that has a few hurdles of its own at that, so if you have any advice on where you think it would most benefit me to start I would be more than happy to hear it.

My credit is in excellent shape, I'm looking for a second job to get enough cash saved away for a decent downpayment, and now I'm just trying to fit it all together in a way that will help me put together an investment that will set me up for a decent retirement.

By the way, I noticed you're from Saint Augustine and I have to say that's always been one of my favorite areas in Florida. :)

Hi! My name is Emily, and I'm a young professional in Boca Raton who just recently became interested in the idea of real estate investment properties and rentals. I came across The Book on Investing in Real Estate with No (And Low) Money Down by Brandon Turner--which, incidentally, is how I came to BiggerPockets!--just yesterday and I'm already three chapters in with a lot of ideas about how I can increase my monthly income via real estate investment properties. Pending a lot of research, of course!

At present, I have no background in real estate, but I've always been a strong believer in learning as a lifelong process and what I do know are a lot of folks in the construction business! The first goal I've set myself is to have a look at all the resources available in this community--this was my first stop :)--but my eventual goal is to find a multifamily unit, ideally something like a fourplex, for buy-and-hold rental and lay the foundation for other future investments.

House flipping is another area of interest for me, as I've already got some solid connections in the construction industry here, but given my financial situation, a buy-and-hold property with the potential to offer steady income seemed like the more financially sound investment to start.

I look forward to speaking with you all!
