Potential Property Investor

Andrew Lindstrom
Posted

Hey there, I'm a Marine serving in Afghanistan, and I should have some serious cash when I get back from deployment. Most Marines will blow there money on tattoos and cars, but I should have enough money for a downpayment on a rental investment property. I'm kind of overwhelmed with the info that is out there. Can someone point me in the right direction of where to start?

Welcome to the site, Andrew, and congrats on being smart with your money. Now it is time to figure out what to do with it . . . I recommend you spend some time reading through the Starting Out and General Real Estate Investing forums . . . that will give you an idea of all the basic questions people have. You'll learn about strategies and will probably be able to make decisions on what strategies make sense for you. Then you can jump on more specific forums (Landlording, Wholesaling, Rehabbing, etc) and dig in deeper. I also recommend reading through our BiggerPockets Blog, where you'll find some incredible and in-depth articles.

I'd also make sure I asked as many questions here as possible, and as you can see, the good members are usually around for some great advice.

Thanks for your service, and I hope we can help you get your financial life flourishing!
