Hello BP! My name is Brett and I currently work full time in the health field. I travel back and forth from Sacramento to Oakland throughout the week due to my job. I'm looking to gain experience in buy and hold investing and hopefully start purchasing properties soon. My target area is anywhere between the Bay Area and Sacramento.
Thank you,
Brett

Have you set expectations for the type of return you are hoping to get in that area, Sacramento will offer higher returns than the Bay Area, but as long as your expectations are reasonable you should have no trouble finding a rental property.

Hey Brett! Depending on your budget and what kind of returns you're looking for, I would check out either Stockton or Sacramento. Here are a couple articles on both that will help you get started.
The closer you get to the Bay, the higher prices go up and the numbers are a lot less likely to make sense.
That is, unless you're rolling around with an extra $5 million in your pocket, which I'm betting is probably not the case haha.
Best of luck!

Hello Brett. I would also suggest that you attend local meetups in both Sacramento and Bay Area. http://norcalreia.com, https://www.meetup.com/N-California-Real-Estate-In...
Some great ones in San Francisco, Milpitas and San Jose. Either way there are plenty of resources out there to help you on your search.
