Starting over in Lubbock, Texas

I'm thrilled to join the BP community! I purchased my first home (a duplex!) on an FHA loan in 2001 in an up-and-coming neighborhood and fell in love with real estate then and there. My partner and I grew our portfolio to 5 properties within a few short years, but he never felt that the benefits of real estate investing outweighed the risks... despite the profits we made while downsizing.

Exceedingly long-story made short: I moved to west Texas 5 years ago to pursue my big, hairy, audacious goal of becoming a physician. I love what I do in my day (and often night) job, but I also still love the fun, freedom, challenge, and excitement that comes with real estate.

I'm putting down roots in Texas and looking for small and mid-sized multi-family units.

@Vivian Hase The new duplexes on the NW side of town are going for around $1,400/month per side and they sell for around $280,000-$300,000. The older ones on the NW side (Lynwood Townhomes) are renting out for around $975/month per side and sell for around $185,000.
