Hi, everybody! I'm brand new to the community and brand new to real estate investing. I'm an Air Force veteran (POL! -sorry, it's a reflex at this point. Little bit of context; POL is Petroleum, Oil, and Lubricants (or as it's known in the Air Force, Fuels). I was stationed at McChord AFB outside of Tacoma, WA for 6 years, and moved back home to Idaho in 2006. I'm a Blessed husband who married WAY out of his league to the most amazing wife in the world, and proud dad of the 2 most awesome kids and 2 most awesome dogs in the world. I've had a huge interest in real estate for a long time, watch WAY too much HGTV and DIY, and am looking to get started investing. I have been listening seemingly non-stop to the Bigger Pockets podcast, and trying to learn everything I can.
I'm primarily interested in starting out with a single family home, maybe a duplex and building up. I'm currently putting together my 10-year roadmap for what I want to achieve with the goals of getting in the game, and start stacking units (thank you Brandon Turner for the idea!)
I'm really looking forward to getting to know everyone (yes, everyone!), learn everything I can, and if I can be of help to anybody in any way, please ask!! If I can help someone meet their goals in any way, that would be awesome.

Hi Jason, welcome to Bigger Pockets! I, too, am from Boise. I've lived here since I was 12. Like you, I'm just now getting into real estate investing however, except for a possible house hack, my plan is to invest out of state.
I would suggest getting involved with the local REI meetup groups. @Jonna Weber and @StacyA McBain can help you get started there.
After you've familiarized yourself with the website for a while, you'll see a Financial Independence course by Brandon Turner show up under the Education tab. I suggest watching those four videos and then investing in a Pro membership to accelerate your education.
