My name is Jon and I am a new real estate investor. I am looking to wholesale properties in order to save up enough income to jump into the big deals in multi-family homes. I live in Hutto TX, which is just north of Austin TX. I would love to connect with other real estate investors, whether it be sellers, buyers, wholesalers, flippers, etc. I am also going for my real estate license, which I should have next year in January. I know I do not need the license to be a wholesaler, but I personally know two friends that are buying homes next year. The $297 fee for obtaining the license course seemed like an easy no brainer to earn 5-10k in earnings from being the buying agent for my friends next year.
I am a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and I currently work for the Department of Veterans Affairs. Working in finance during my military service and working in Financial Compliance for the government has really opened my eyes to the financial world.
I want to be able to leave my job working as a federal employee and make real estate investing my full-time job/lifestyle by the end of next year.
If you want to connect, please let me know. I am excited to get to know everyone on this website.
@Jonathan Roughton Welcome and thank you for your service. If you haven't used the VA loan, I highly suggest jumping into a 4 unit complex and living in one of the units with a VA loan purchase. House Hacking with a VA loan will get you in the game with 0 down and have you on your way without saving up. Either way, you on the right path. Get to crushing it!
I actually just closed on my own home with a VA Loan a couple of weeks ago. I should have just used a normal loan for my home and a VA loan for the multi-family purpose. We live and learn lol I appreciate the enthusiasm! Are you into wholesaling as well?
@Jonathan Roughton definitely start by househacking! Easiest way to get started and teaches you a lot
Semper Fi, brother!
Just to warn you, wholesaling with a license is going to get a lot harder now. New ABOR rules are getting rid of "pocket listings" and the like. I don't think anyone knows the exact repercussions of the new rules yet, but look into it.
Either way, if you ever feel like grabbing a beer with a fellow marine and talking some real estate, PM me. Most of my property is in East Austin, with my homestead a bit more central.
