Central Ohio new member - homeowner wanting 2nd home/vaca rentals

Hello, everyone! As stated in title, I'm a homeowner in Central Ohio and starting to think about 2nd homes and or real estate I can own in other states that I can rent out and occasionally visit with my family. I have no experience in the process and my limited imagination takes me to buying a SFH, condo, or villa in Smokies or Kissimmee or something like that. I only have the highest level understanding of where to start and what to consider. I'm looking for insights and gain experience from BiggerPockets.com and to continue learning as much as I can before I drop money on anything and quickly realize I made a mistake.

That's great @John Hardy, Columbus, OH might also be a good place to consider getting a 2nd home.
