Introduction from Endicott, NY Investor
Just wanted to say hello to the community here. I have been lurking for a little while but only recently discovered that there are a few people who invest in the Southern Tier of NY. I bought my first property, a 4 unit in Endicott, 13 years ago. After purchasing my 4th building I was able to quit my day job and although I still live pretty modestly I am very content managing (micromanaging?) my buildings. I now own (2) 4 family and (3) 2 family buildings in Endicott, Endwell and Johnson City. No student rentals. I have had the good fortune of retaining good long term tenants in almost all of my units. I currently have 2 more under contract in Endicott and am still looking to grow my holdings for a few more years. I never had a mentor and kind of muddled my way through at the beginning, because of that I am always looking for opinions and referrals on pretty much every aspect of owning and managing. I would love to hear from others in this area what they are paying for insurance and who they go through. I have all of my properties with Walls Insurance which I thought I was paying a bit more to get a better quality of coverage but I am a little dubious on that now. Would love to hear about anyone else's experience. Thanks!

Hey Rob! I'm an investment and commercial agent, and I cover Binghamton, Ithaca, Cortland and Watkins Glen.
Everyone arrives where they are via different paths. Your grassroots method is my personal favorite. Self-taught folks tend to see fewer limits and think more creatively. I always learn something new from clients who do things the way you do!
I use Dryden Mutual through Bailey Place. They insure both my contracting company as well as the flip I did last year. After searching around I found them to be the most reasonable by quite a bit!
