New investors in the house!

Alex Ciuca
Posted

Hey everyone,

Want to reach out to the BP community and introduce myself and my wife who are eager to get started investing in SFHs and Multi-Unit rental properties. We are located in Pittsburgh, and while we are interested in our local market (if the right deals come up), we are more interested in out-of-state investing; namely Columbus, OH or similar. Our goal is to build long-term wealth through equity while maintaining positive cash-flow through our properties. (Yes, we realize that is "well, duh, who doesn't?" statement.)

We are trying to do this the right way from the ground up and want to make the right connections before we move forward with our first purchase.

We welcome any constructive feedback, pointers, advice, etc.. on getting started. Love the content on BP, it's been a huge help in gathering knowledge from so many POVs.

Thanks!

Hi everyone, please allow me to address the population issue in Pittsburgh. Many are under the impression that the population in Pittsburgh continues to decline or has shown little growth compared to other cities. Please allow me to remind everyone that is an assumption that hasn't yet been corroborated as the last census was completed 10 years ago in 2010. So it will be interesting to see how that has changed in 2020. Also since I've lived here my whole life, I can say that Pittsburgh was an older population until recent years where the city is now becoming more of a tech town in addition to it's already existent medical roots. Since it has been and perhaps still is an older population, the number of deceased have been higher than the number of new people coming into the city. But yet, the new census hasn't come out yet.

On a sidenote @Alex Ciuca I've heard great things about Columbus and wish you the best in your endeavors. It doesn't matter what market you decide to invest in, the best advice I can give anyone is to determine what you can afford, what your goals are, how the numbers work for you and to build a team of reliable and respected real estate professionals who will understand and adhere to your plans while offering a wide variety of ways to achieve them. Best of luck, Gary
