New Investor, Just Saying Hello

Hey Everyone!

Another new investor here. My name is Josh, I'm a Network Engineer and I have been in the real estate world for about a whole week. I am currently a renter myself, my partner and I had actually downgraded our living situation about a year ago and started saving up to buy a home. At first we had our goals set on our forever home, max out the loan amount we were approved for, get a big yard, new appliances, etc. etc. I had an epiphany a few weeks back however as I had been reading some investment books which touched briefly on Real Estate and thought, this could be a great opportunity to set myself up for a proper retirement. So here I am.

I am currently just wrapping up both "Investing for Dummies" and "Rental Property Investing", I have also been listening to the Bigger Pockets podcast and am now at least a minimally active member of the forum.

I know this has probably been covered a million times or more, but I would be remiss if I didn't ask at least one question on my first post, so, if you could pick one resource, be it a book, podcast, etc. (aside from BP) that helped you the most in your first year of investing, what would it be?

@Josh Speiker

Welcome to the BP community, fellow Minnesotan here.

If you haven’t already subscribed to the BiggerPockets podcasts, do that ASAP. Look for meet ups in your area (virtual), attend free webinars, start reading as much as possible on any and all topics related to investing and real estate. Use the forums to help you search for the answers to all of your questions. If you can’t find your answers, then create your own post!

For me it was the podcasts that really sparked the fire. I would also highly recommend finding a meetup and actually talking to people out there.

Feel free to DM me with any questions.

Good luck and get educated!
