Modular/Manufactured/Prefab homes in VA

I'm tossing around the idea of purchasing some vacant lots, pouring slabs, and then having some sort of pre-constructed home placed on it as a rental.  As I've gathered, the terminology and methods have changed somewhat over the years.  What I am looking for is a structure (not a doublewide trailer) which would be assembled prior to delivery, placed on a prepoured foundation, and then hooked up to utilities with a minimal amount of on-site work needed to be done prior to occupancy.  

Does anyone have experience doing this sort of investment and some insight on the pros/cons? Can anyone direct me to either manufacturers in the Virginia area, or an industry association where I could located manufacturers/dealers?
