Hi BPers.

We will be visiting Hawaii for about 3 weeks in Jun-July 2018.

while looking at number of website for vacation rentals like Vrbo etc there prices display a per night base and then on top there are local Taxes. these can mount up to be $200-$400 on top of the base rate.

Can anyone recommend what is the best way to rent a house or Condo on Maui or Oahu?

Much appreciated,

Hadar

@CJ Hawk - Yep. That's a good area. There are some places that are already being rented, but I'm not as concerned with that as I am with the deal. I bought a place at the right price and lined up my guys to go in as soon as the close starts and tear it apart. It'll be remodeled and available within 30 days. In the meantime, I'm already taking reservations on Airbnb, VRBO, etc. so that as soon as the remodel is finished we can start getting bookings. This way I don't have to worry about blocking out time to remodel a place or pay top dollar for one that's already renovated.

To be fair, it doesn't seem worth it to invest in a VR in Maui unless you're willing to put down a lot of cash or be able to self manage. If you can do the cleanings too you can also bump up your ROI by about 3-4%.

    Good luck, amigo! Aloha!
