Fresh paint peeling on bedroom doors

Clint Peoples
Posted

Hey y’all!  I’m painting bedroom doors on a property, rookie DIY, and after painting, the paint is peeling with the slightest brushing of a tool or finger nail. This is after 24 hours of drying and using bonded primer and latex paint. I’ve read a few articles that state this can happen if the paint previously applied was an oil based or gloss or semigloss paint. Any pointers for how to fix this and how to better prepare going forward?

Maybe just buy a new door and be done with it.
