Window Wells - Plastic or Metal?

Was going to pick up new window well walls for our new property?  I noticed that the store had plastic window wells with covers.  Does anyone have any experience with these?  Any advice?

If these are egress windows, check with your local permitting and inspection folks to see if they allow the plastic wells - not all places do.
