For efficient way to rent dumpsters?

Question

Since we have 3-4 jobs going on at any given time I always have a need for hauling service or dumpster. a 15 yard on my location is around $300 for 5 day rental.

With us needing clean ups and various locations multiple times a month we spend alot on dumpsters. I considered buying my own truck and trailer. But then I have to incur all the expenses of owning and repairing and find someone to drive and dump it.

Are most of you guys who do volume just using dumpster services ?

I called every company that will service my area and ended up getting a great rate. Sometimes it's less about the price and more about the service though. If you're trying to get a house on the market and they won't pull a dumpster for 15 days, it's massively inconvenient.

I pay $450 for a 30 yarder with no time limit. They will call after thirty days and ask if they can have it back though. I also find that some houses have small dirveways adn I can only fit a 6yd lugger for $420... this escalates my costs a ton. I also somehow manage to always create 35yds of trash and not want to pay for an entire extra rolloff.

I purchased my own dump trailer last year that I use strictly for the smaller driveways or the extra stuff. I can typically dump it at the landfill for $70. Not something I want to do often because it's a muddy, agonizing, stinky 2 hour affair usually. That being said the trailer has already paid for itself twice over.

Yeap, I totally agree with the guys' advice above. If you are doing this frequently, try going to companies in your area and get some kind of a contract so that you pay less but more frequently than an ordinary client. I think they will give you a price break. The guys from Dumpster Rental in Lafayette LA offered some good services, but I have used them only two times so far. I am satisfied with their services so if you're also looking for companies in this area, check them and maybe you'll get a deal. But be very attentive to all the clauses as I heard from my friends that they had to pay additional fees for things not initially discussed, and they were very disappointed.

@Adam Craig do you use the same contractors? If so propose they purchase a dump trailer and you pay them a lower rate for dumping it. We use our own and charge an hourly rate for the time and the actual dump fee cost, which is usually about 1/2 of what a roll off would cost

We provide dumpsters to investors (like myself) all the time, and to save $20-25 simply isn't worth their headaches. If you are a regular user of a lot of dumpsters, try bidding it out to every company in your area and see if you can get a price break.
