I've got the title search done on a property and the title says it has a 2008 tax lien and about 6 judgements and fees from the city for grass cutting and boarding up the property. What do I need to do next?

Hi Alin,

A few of my peers have had to deal with Cook County after foreclosing and as I understand, it was a very frustrating and drawn-out process due to their regs and bureaucracy. I think your guestimate of 1 months is very unrealistic. One person I spoke with today said it has been over 8 months since he foreclosed and the county will still not let him record his deed until he gets the property fixed up to their guidelines. Sounds like they are trying to mitigate blight, but quite extreme.

Unless you have a good reason to invest in a Chicago note, you may want to look at less challenging areas to buy NPLs.

Bob
