Is this power line a problem?

Question

Did some driving for dollars and came across the house below. It looks a lot worse than the picture below. This is probably an older picture from google street view.

Please bear with me, I'm a newer investor and wanted some advice on this power line in the front yard. That is obviously something that can't be moved with a renovation.

My question is: How much of a turn off is this pole/wires in the front yard? To me personally; it bothers me a lot, but maybe to renters it wouldn't be a big deal?

Thanks for the response, Gino. Exactly what I was thinking-I would hate to mow a yard that has an obstacle course in the way of my lawnmower.

Hi Luka

When I am analyzing a potential site for tenants, I always ask if I would want to live there, in reference to its safety, cleanliness, accessibility, amenities, etc.  This would be a huge turnoff because of the safety as well as the appearance. I'm sure some renters would not mind having that in the yard, but you can bet they will ask for price concession.  I don't blame them.  I would too.

I have seen these anchoring lines but typically when I see them they are in the right of way so instead of running to the middle of the lawn they run toward the street or along the edge of the road.  I would pass because it decreases the usability of the property.   I usually don't have a problem with power lines and actually live next to high tension lines but to me unless you can get the pole moved this is a no.  It would just hit almost everyone negatively as soon as they look at the property.

Wow...

Most newer subdivisions have all that underground. It may have been the last lot to sell because of that.

It will probably put some buyers off, and may make it tough to rent.

sI have never seen this before. If I were the owner of the house I would demand that the city move the utility poles, my argument would be hazzardous to my kids or nighborhood kids.
