When we were building a building and leasing office space to a State agency, every month there would be a team of architects, designers, space planners, leasing agents, etc. driving hundreds of miles to see what the progress of their space was. There were 8-12 people in the group, coming in 4 cars.

Entering the building the main lobby had 3 walls around it, with one door going back to the rest of the space where the workers were. However; there were pay stations that opened to the lobby where people would pay their taxes. The glass was bullet proof glass. All the walls on the lobby had bullet proof drywall on them. It cost a fortune. Yet, on the outside perimeter of the building, there were glass windows around the whole thing, looking into their lunchroom, the directors office, and the cashiers office. Anyone wanting to shoot any of them could have easily attacked them by shooting through the outside windows, or jumped them leaving the building.

The security they required cost alot of money, but did nothing to make them safer. It's wasteful spending such as this that drives the cost of everything the government does through the roof.

It's so disheartening living in a state that has every conceivable industry, tens of thousands of acres of farmland that is blocked from use, and if it were a country could be one of the most wealthy in the world, yet the mismanagement by our state government for decades has cities rushing to file for bankruptcy.

There are a few areas in California (Orange County being one) that are still doing good. The rest the state is a mess, with real unemployment in many areas being 20% and possibly more. In addiiton, prison doors have been opened with thousands of former inmates now spreading across the state, crime is up in many areas, and we have a governor that is oblivious to making the cuts necessary ( like Wisconsin) , thinking instead that the citizens are going to approve a tax hike!

Government employee unions control California, and until they are seriously dealt with, we will continue the downward spiral. For anyone on the fence with their ideologies, come to California and try out the progressive policies.. they don't work!
