Fellow Direct Mailers, Looking for Input...

I'm really interested to hear how other people who are actively sending direct mail would answer these questions, especially question #1.  I've been sending direct mail for many years and have done both large, bulk mailings and small, niche mailings.  I feel like people are either doing one or the other and want to get a sense of what has worked the best.

1. Are you of the mindset that you should end out cheaper mail pieces to more people or higher quality mail pieces to less people?

2. Do you send out letters or postcards or both?

3. What is your cost per letter that you're mailing?
