Interesting read on the rise of multigenerational housing

I've been seeing a lot of articles about the rise in multigenerational housing. A lot of St. Louis housing stock already lends itself to this since  lot of our housing stock  already has

  • basements
  • detached garages
  • larger lots
  • flexible lower levels
  • duplex inventory
  • extra living space

Are you noticing this trend where  Gen X buyers are helping aging parents, adult kids, or combining households to make ownership work better financially long term?

From an investor standpoint, I think functionality may start mattering more than people realize. A finished basement, second living area, or flexible layout may create more value moving forward than just cosmetic upgrades alone.

Curious if others in different markets are seeing the same thing yet and considering this trend when renovating properties?
