Tips on finding good deals on appliances?

I am in the closing process of buying my first duplex. Both sides need new appliances including washer and dryer. Any tips on finding a good deal on appliances?

I hear that buying slightly used is the way to go. I have also heard that buying new and having a good warranty is worth the extra money.

Let me know your thoughts!

@Connor McGinnis I almost always end up buying from my Lowe’s because they keep a large amount of appliances in stock and can get them in store faster than our Home Depot.

Occasionally if we need a full set we will bid the two against each other to see who comes in cheaper.

I strongly recommend not getting a refrigerator with a water hookup they often leak and damage the floor or the downstairs unit or attract mice to the source of water.

I also recommend not getting a washer dryer with a bunch of electronics, I only get ones with dials, unless you have a high end unit that requires a higher end set of appliances. The ones with only dials are much easier to repair and don’t break nearly as easily.

Also I’m getting the 5 year warranty and the guy at Lowe’s just told me if you don’t use if you can call the warranty company at the end of the 5 years and they’ll refund part of it.
