21 Y/O first property advice

Nelson Martinez
Posted

Hey everyone, Im 21 and currently working full-time in the trades while saving up for my first house hack. I’m planning to buy a 3-family in Worcester within the next year using the MassHousing Workforce Advantage or another down payment assistance program.

What would you recommend I do in the meantime with smaller capital?

I’m still about 12 months out from buying and saving ~$1.5K/month. Would love suggestions on where to park or grow that money safely short-term—or how to use this time to build real estate skills, network locally, or even contribute through bird-dogging, etc.

I’d love to connect with:

• Investors who’ve bought in Worcester recently

• Anyone who’s used MassHousing or down payment assistance programs

• People with experience managing 3-families or who know great local property managers

Any advice, lessons, or local contacts are truly appreciated. Thanks in advance—grateful to be part of the community!

@Nelson Martinez Welcome to Worcester and BP.  Feel free to reach out.  I would be glad to help.  We work with all of these things multiple times a year.
