What is your MOTIVATING FACTOR to continue in REI?

Question

Just wanted to know what keeps you going and what MOTIVATES you.  Some do a deal or two or more a month.  Some don't do any deals, but continue to try and stay in the game.  My question is specific.  What keeps you in the game if you are having a HARD time finding DEALS, MOTIVATED SELLERS, or getting a GOOD strategy in place.  How do you hang on or have you given up?  Pls let me know what you are doing to sustain yourself in TOUGH times.

1. Freedom.  I want the freedom to do the things that are important to me.

2. Deal junkie. It's very satisfying to do great deals.

3. Balance sheet.  REI makes it healthier each year. It's motivating to see the progress.

I know that if I am patient and persistent the deals will come. Maybe not exactly when I want them, but they do appear.  Let the game come to you.

I stick with hands-off real estate investments so there is no frustration to try to get me down :) Add that to working whenever I want from home in my PJs, and there's my motivation.

My motivation is to eventually not need to work a full-time office job. I'd rather do something part time that I love such as work at the county animal shelter or something.

I have a goal of at least 1 rental property per year, but I actually shoot for 2 per year. So far, I have two 2-unit properties. I also rent out two extra bedrooms in my personal home to make some extra cash.

I spent many years as an engineer in "corporate world" (or cubicle world, or Dilbertland, or whatever you might want to call it).  My personality really is not a good fit for that, and I strongly hope and pray that I never have to go back.  That's my motivation.  Combined with the fact that I like to eat, and food costs money, which doesn't grow on trees (although it is regularly printed in Washington, DC).

I use an action blog.

If I'm not getting calls then I look at what I've done over the last couple of weeks... If I haven't done enough then I'll know and it motivates me to do more.

The more you market the more opportunities that will come your way.

It's been four months since my first bandit sign campaign and I've only done three campaigns. I haven't completed my first deal yet, but I've had deals slip through my fingers.

I realized I hadn't posted up any signs in a month so I went out and later that day I had a seller call who is now in a title search and I should be closing within the next week for close to $7000 in profit.

Biggest motivation is to provide abundance for myself and my family.

Not happening at the old JOB but can get there with Real Estate.

More practically we have a pretty good routine going with my flexible schedule.  I honestly have no idea how we would be able to do all the things we need to right now it I was working the hours I used to have.

I put in more hours now, but I do it when I can/want to do it.  That in and of itself is motivation!

My top motivation is making sure I am able to retire successfully and to provide my kids with a legacy of being REI.  I already have my youngest daugher reading Rich Dads Poor Dads.  I have also read the Millionaire Next Door and currently The Millionaire Real Estate Investor which provides a different mind set and is totally awesome!  The BP is awesome and motivated me to go bigger and better.  I haven't had my first deal yet but I am confident I will by the end of the month.  I love my job so I won't quit.

1. Freedom of schedule, working 12-14hour days did not appeal to me

2. Not having to deal with a boss and getting someone else promoted

3. RE deals are creative and fun, we get to add our twist on things

4. There's no better way to make money than passive investments

5. You're essentially revitalizing a community and strengthening property values when you fix up a property

6. Chance to really build wealth, simply saving with mutual funds or stocks does't not cut it
