Skip tracing and no information

What does everyone do when the skip trace brings up the wrong numbers or no numbers at all? What are some other options. I am a newbie and trying to figure it all out.

Try the neighbors. A lot of times the departing owners will tell them where to reach them. Try familysearch  it's a dot org genealogy site. Sometimes will give you names of relatives.
