Stiga of being section 8 landlord

I told my brother that I had a tenant that was section 8. He immediately started calling me a slumlord!

Has anyone else expererienced this? The stigma might be so strong that I might just altogether avoid mentioning that I have section 8. Might just keep it to gf and close friends.

People will call others names when they do not understand.
