real estate agent steal a deal?

Question

I found a really great property that had no offer and had been on the market for a long time.  I made an offer through a real estate agent, but the next day the house has a pending offer and mine is rejected.  Am I being paranoid?  Did the agent steal my deal?

I don't think it is a matter of my agent and I getting on the same page.  Clearly this person doesn't care so I will just move on and find some one else who is on top of their stuff.

Hi @Ryein Goddard,

Sorry to hear of your issue. I have a couple points.

-You and your agent need to get on the same page. If you two don't trust each other or communicate then fix it or replace it.

- If it's a great property odds are it wouldn't have been on the market for awhile, look deeper into why it is still available.

- If a listing agent ever got into those types of communication with my client I would have plenty to say to them and their broker or the board. One of our biggest ethical issues is respecting other agents and their clients relationship.

- The listing agent is legally bound to say nothing to make his seller look bad. Putting the blame elsewhere/ on themselves or your agent is their job and is legally required. Personally I would have said "Talk to your agent". If they didn't like your offer for some reason their agent can't tell you "They thought your offer was weak and you would never close because....."

The listing agent literally told me he contacted our agent and our agent failed to contact us about the offer being declined and asking for a counter.

Just heard back from the listing agent and I guess they contacted our agent so we could counter, but he never contacted them back on our behalf.
