Would you buy a painted vinyl house?

Question

In escrow on a fourplex. I noticed a color difference in the listing pics and the google earth pics. Turns out it was painted. It was built in 99 which I don't understand why you would paint it. SOmeone suggested it was probably a popular ugly grey color popular in the 90s... Should I let it scare me away? Account for extra maint? Account for replacement? I'm at my highest and best....and can't spend 20K on a vinyl job. But painted vinyl looks ghetto.

It is a 3360 sq ft (living space) building. So I'm thinking 20K or so....I'm in SC

9/2017. So looks like it has been painted since. Maybe to spruce it up for selling? Or maybe another reason....I would prefer ugly vinyl to painted. I like stock things haha

I dont know yet. Very hard to get info from anyone. It doesn't appear to be peeling, yet, per my brother who took a look. Inspection is this week. Hope to know more. I am out of state, unfortunately. Like in Alaska, house is in SC.

I wouldn't let it kill the deal just plan for replacement. One thing you could pray for is a hail storm and insurance would pay for replacing it. At that point you put up hardiboard. This exact thing happened to my 4 plex but I got lucky, the storm was a month after I bought it and it was a bad storm. Punched holes in the vinyl, broke windows, destroyed the crappy plastic gutters. Only downside was I had already spent several days replacing trim boards before it happened. Been living in my primary residence now 2 years and hoping for another one so I can get a new roof lol.

I can't imagine the paint holding up for more than a year or two.  Once it starts peeling, it'll either need to be painted again or replaced.

How long ago does it look like it was painted? Is it starting to peel?
