why are architects so busy in the boston area?

so upon my search to get some architectual work done, I have come to find out they are all booked. Most of them told me they cant even look at my paperwork for 2 months. I even spoke to a person with over 10 years experience and they mentioned its busiuest she has ever seen. My search was in the north shore area.

Does anyone else have a similar issue, and what did you do to move forward.

@Jocelyn Velney    Having a great relationship with an architect makes a tremendous difference.   The speed is fast but the price is not cheap.
