Has anyone used Al Aiello LLC Asset Protection plan?

Question

Has anyone heard of Al Aiello and have they purchased his LLC asset protection course?  Just saw a webinar and seemed very  thorough and complete.  Can anyone comment pro or contra this program?

I have been to his info session at some REIA meetings. Way to much but wait there is  another deduction or price discount if you buy now.  Probably at least four price reductions during the presentation.  Complete turn off for me.  I have attended events with Mark Kohler as @Andrew Hargreave mentioned.  He is an attorney and cpa.  He does a great job breaking things down.  Many you tube videos, has a podcast and free info.  I have used his firm and he is very reasonable.  I would recommend Make.  He works in all states.

I just (partially) attended Bill Noll's full-day seminar recently. Since it was not free and was all-day, I was expecting an all-day education. What I actually got after a few hours was a sales pitch. At that time, I couldn't stand and had to leave.

I think @Lynn M. is smart with having rules about purchasing materials. To be honest, I was surprised that people still do a product pitching. I thought they were gone when the recession hit. You know how it goes. "Today only," "discounted price," "available to purchase only here," "special bonus just for you," "packed with information you can not get anywhere," etc.

Regarding the content, it sounded great. I just don't know how it'll actually work in the real world.

That said, he provided a PDF that shows how to structure LLC in a different way ("master" LLC with "sub" LLCs under it.) I'm enjoying reading it.

If you are new and need help building a mental diagram of how structuring entities works, then this could be helpful for you.  Although it is quite basic and repetitive.  Secondly, all the information in this system is available here on bigger pockets, and plenty more.  If you have the money to burn and want a decent kicking off point then go for it, but I'd suggest just spending 2-3 total hours searching through a few posts on here, paired with google searches, and you should easily find all that you would need.

I just went to TRIG's hosted full-day seminar on this, now with Bill Noll as Mr. Aiello recently passed away, and Mr. Noll worked with him for years and now has taken over the presentations.  For the $25 fee, we received some very interesting information on his best ways to set up asset protection and what to look for in a tax accountant, along with a free lunch.  For that price, it was well worth the time spent as I have a better understanding of what path to ultimately take.   But I do not ever purchase materials when 1) the seller says, Only available if you purchase today, not available for you to purchase later; and 2) it costs a lot of money.  It was approx $1500 for the complete system he was selling for asset protection and taxes, and that was the discounted price.   Had the materials all been offered for, like, $300, I might have considered it for research purposes.  I was very wary, for instance, of the apparent subject-to transfers into an LLC.  He said, for example, that it was easy to get a loan through an LLC, maybe a 1/4% higher rate.  Our experience was very different, with no decent rate or terms to be found for a newly formed LLC, much higher rates, high fees, short-term balloon instead of long-term financing, and everyone we spoke to would have made us put our own names on the loan, anyway, not the LLC, so not worth it for us.

I recently attended a 1 day seminar from Mark Kohler  (http://www.markjkohler.com/) about tax and accounting planning for REI.   It was a really interesting day for a newbie like me who's still working on pulling the trigger on our first deal.  He has some good books on the topic you can purchase (Amazon Books by Mark Kohler)

I've never heard of Aillo's plan though.

First of all, I have not seen this training and I don’t know what the content would be.

However I have been to many other presentations, bought many books and DVD on the subject. After months of study what really gave me the best mental picture was the free content on Clint Coons YouTube channel. Start from the oldest hours long video and finish by the recent short ones. I believe that would be the best tens of hours that you can spend on the subject.

Once you have that done, you should be able to dig into some specific subjects by looking at other sources that have some different opinion to make your choice.

Like most things its how much are you willing to pay to increase your intellect in an area of interest.  Yes you can find a lot of information for free which is fine.  You can also pay for information of which some will be good some not so good.

I have purchased a few of the programs offered and you can find them online, generally on discount.  For the most part I have been happy with my purchases.  Although the information would allow you to do a lot of things DYI, the information you learn will also allow you to engage your team of professionals in a manner more to your benefit.

Lawyers generally like to use boilerplate language and its often the paralegal that does your work, but your needs might be specific and if you know what your needs are and can communicate accurately to them.  Some accountants wont go outside what turbotax tells them, when in reality your tax is based upon your facts, and your specific way of conducting business may be more advantaged tax wise rather then a cookie cutter aproach.

Although I have not yet purchased the complete Aiello program, I have found value in the materials I have received (& used).  For those of you with issues about "sales pitches," have you watched any of the Bigger Pockets Webinars?
