About to finish high school. I Need Advice!
Hello everyone, my name is Derrick I am currently a senior at Anderson high school. I have done a good deal of homework when it comes to real estate investing but just like any journey I must begin with the first step. This is that first step, I understand some of the basics of what I need to do but I don’t know in what order to start or even how to start. Considering most of who I watch, read, and listen to are people who are way ahead of me and I find myself lost at the very beginning so this post is for anybody who can give me even a little shred of advice as I plan on beginning my career as soon as I turn 18 which is in the next week. So again any tips, tricks or anything alike would be tremendously appreciated, thank you.
Internships and Job shadowing is something I am also widely open to!

@Derrick Mitchem Hello there and congratulations on upcoming birthday and being a smart cookie!
- get collateralized credit card (no more than $500), pay in FULL each month, religiously!!! . this will start your credit history which will be very important when applying for loans, refinance, look for legit partners.
- set up overdraft protection for your checking account (if you dont have one, get one; local bank would be better than national ones)
- consider going to trade school or doing apprenticeship (plumbing, electrical, HVAC). really helpful skills. really.
- consider working for real estate office - receptionist, assistant, anything. also consider becoming an agent.
- do not over leverage, do not spend on stupid stuff, save up, keep reading, meet people, be nice and kind to others - it does pay back.
