Cost of building a pool in Palm Springs, CA?

HI All!

I was wondering if anyone has had experience building a pool in the Palm Springs area of CA?  The idea is that homes with pools cost significantly higher than homes without. Plus, the cost of the pool installation would be deductible on an investment property, so I was thinking to spend less on a home without a pool and install a pool later. BUT, I have no idea how much a pool would cost. Obviously details of the pool would change the price, but I was just wanting a ball park number. Or if you have done it before, I would love to hear what you got and for how much.

Spot on.I just got a quote on a very basic pool install (no spa, no fancy gear, etc) for $62K up from $35K 12 months ago. And this does not include removal of palm trees to accommodate the install.

We used to be able to get them done around $40k.  Now you are looking at $60k+.  The pool companies were completely slammed, now they are just extremely busy.  Keep in mind for a vacation rental the equipment is a bit more expensive as you need a good heater and remote automation, and a pump and filter that can keep up with heavy sporadic use.

Hey guys! Quick update. I was able to lock in a quote at 80k for the pool. It's a little more than a basic pool though. We got one quote for 135k and another for 60k, so we went with the middle quote. Plus they had the best reviews.

@Keao Tano LA pool builders are just as slammed with high-paying work.  Possible you can subcontract it out yourself if you want to take a stab at that.

Have you guys thought about bringing in a non local pool builder like from the LA area? Wonder if that is even a thing.... 62k for a basic install seems high, but I understand it.
