Issues with parking lot next to my new purchase
Hi Forum,
Need your help here. Just bought a home in Oceanside, CA and the city parking lot next door is a concern to me. There are people in there all hours of the night adding noise and general seediness to my home and area. The home is amazing but it now needs to be advertised stating there can be extraneous noise. I recently called the police chief's office who is getting me in touch with patrols. My property manager suggested putting flood lights facing the parking lot from dusk until dawn( happy to do it) .
Short term - what can I do in addition to filing complaints with the city
Long term - is there is a way to get the city to sell or let this lot be developed into something else which would greatly improve the area

I bet that any attempt to get that lot shut down would be a long long long time fight.
So lets look at the source.
Where are the seedy people coming from and where are they going (???)
Are you talking about surfers at night, or couples making out (???)
What makes them seedy, their cars are jalopies, their mannerisms are rude, they look "poor", stoned out drug zombies begging for quarters...(???).
Does the city allow facing lights at the parking lot (???)
Are the neighbors who live nearby "seedy" types who use the area for overflow parking (???)
What is the loud "Noise" buzzy aftermarket mufflers, loud vehicle music, bomp bomp bomp noises coming from car sub-woofers (???)
Are we talking "Criminal Types" here, or Hobo's, Tramps, etc... (???)
Because solving the problem might be easier if you concentrate on the problem makers.
