Early days in real estate Career

Michael Burnett
Posted

Hey everyone, I'm a new real estate investor with one Airbnb property in my portfolio. I am moving to the bay area and am curious how others navigated the early days of their career? How were you meeting others in the industry and creating connections? I'm planning to work for a developer or value add investor to help sharpen my skills over the next 5 years before moving to commercial investing.

Would love to hear feedback on your experience in the early days and getting connected when you didn't have much to offer.

@Michael Burnett Attend the REIA meetups, take people out to coffee, pick their brains, rinse and repeat the process

Your main bottleneck to meeting more people is your willingness to attend as many real estate events and put yourself out there as much as possible

When I started out, I met as many people as I could and ended up working for a developer which catapulted my career in RE. Be as intentional as possible about what you're looking for and you'll notice that the people you meet will pave the way for those opportunities
