is there a way for me to create an online STR guestbook for free?  any free programs?

We use Google Docs Template - it is good because you can share it digitally as well as print and leave in home.  I do not see a need for extra cost or tech not all of your guests will appreciate (i.e. older generations).

You can use Canva as well. Very easy to make a nice looking guestbook.

I also just use word processing to create a guide book. 3 ring binder with sheet protectors.

I put in all sorts of things like local menus, maps to cool places etc.

I update them each year or when something new and interesting is available.

Microsoft Word is where I created mine. Easy to make updates and reprint to put in nice 3 ring binder.

Many people are not logged into Vrbo besides person making reservation and appreciate being able to easy get information.

I think people overthink guidebooks, it’s just information. Just make it digital so you can update it constantly. No need to pay a 3rd party service for this.

@Marc Shin Agree the 3 ring binder is the way to go. It’s easy to switch it up or add to it or replace it if parts or the whole thing gets damaged.

We did this for each guest room at our B&Bs and it helped tremendously.

And I would suggest that links and QR codes may be helpful to some guests but a certain number won’t use that type of technology so I’d include hard copies of menus. Also if you know they’re likely to need reservations at certain restaurants I would make a note of that on the menu.  In smaller/tourist locations the best places fill up fast and knowing you need a reservation is huge.
