Charlotte, NC Ranked 3rd Best in U.S. Real Estate Market

In a recent report published by the Urban Land Institute and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Charlotte now ranks 3rd best in the U.S. real estate market! This comes as no surprise, considering how the Queen City has been growing by leaps and bounds in the past year, especially in all of its most sought-after neighborhoods, especially South End, Uptown and NoDa.Only outranked by the Texas cities of Dallas and Austin for 1st and 2nd, Charlotte’s favorable economy, lower cost of living, and its abundance of affordable housing continues to attract new and move up homebuyers, as well as a healthy mix of businesses to the area.

Major Charlotte Construction

Charlotte’s key neighborhoods have several recent and ongoing construction projects, including:

  • In South End, you’ll find townhomes and condos, with dozens more planned in the high rise developments cropping up all over the neighborhood. It’s the perfect place for young business professionals, new college grads, and singles to call home.It even has plans to open a self-storage facility featuring a wine cellar!
  • In Uptown, another trendy neighborhood, construction for five new hotels have been underway to add to the thousands more that have been opening and will continue to be developed all throughout Charlotte. These hotels are Residence Inn and the AC Hotel by Marriott at the Epicentre, Embassy Suites across from the NASCAR Hall of Fame, Kimpton Hotel across from Romare Bearden Park, and SpringHill Suites across from Spectrum Center.New apartments are also in the works for Uptown, as part of a mixed-use development with Whole Foods by 2018, as are a growing list of several office towers, restaurants, retailers, and the New York City-based office of WeWork, to provide Charlotte entrepreneurs with coworking space for all their business needs.
  • NoDa, the nickname for what residents call the area on and around North Davidson Street, has plans for building 2,000 new apartments, retail shops, and office space, making the vibrant and widely trafficked neighborhood even more of a happening spot for residents and visitors each day.If you’re looking for variety in entertainment, good food, breweries, and shopping, you’re like to find it all in NoDa, especially once construction on NoDa Street Market and the return of Crown Station (which was once located in the neighborhood of Elizabeth) have been completed.

Two other noteworthy projects slated for the Charlotte region include the Hard Rock Casino, as well as the film product studio of CatawbaStudios, both in partnership with the Catawba Indian Nation and many other investors in South Carolina.Their completion will provide the Indian tribe and the community with numerous employment, educational, and cultural opportunities.
