Purchasing the Property

I was looking for a home to fix up and live in, since my rent at the time was more than a mortgage payment.  Rent was $895 and since mortgage rates are around 4%, I could borrow about $170,000 for the same price.  So I started looking in the town I was living in at the time.  I am from west of Portland, Oregon.  The town I was living in, had become a yuppie town over the past 10 years.  I was having a hard time, finding anything under $200,000.

So I started to look at the next town over.  Which is a working man's neighborhood and it had the local Christian college.  I mentioned that I had started to look at houses to a family member and they said, they would loan me $150,000 so I did have to get a mortgage.  Total Score.  I am thankful for that.  I used Zillow to start looking at properties under $150,000 since I did not have a lot of money save.  At the bottom of the screen on Zillow, there is a contact me feature.  I probably contacted about 6 or 7 different real estate professionals.

There was this one real estate agent, that called first and repeatedly to see what I needed, soon my email inbox was flooded with different properties to look at.  I found a real estate agent that was hungry.

More to come...
