UPDATE: the broker, Steve, did reach out and apologize about the situation. Steve was able to better explain how things run on their end and gave more insight about the property we were interested in. Steve also was looking at other properties for us to look at that was within our preferences. Steve even had another person, Jonathan, call me immediately to schedule a tour for the property for tomorrow. I am happy they did reach out and was able to explain how their system works in attempt to figure out why the situation happened. This is honestly one of the most frustrating companies to work with when trying to find a rental. I’ve had a tour scheduled for a property and a few days later they call me stating they are no longer able to give me a tour on that date because they will only do one tour a week. My options were to find another date (the next one available was over a week out), or select a date within that same week and tour with a random group who already had that spot selected. At first I went with the group that was already touring the property, but decided I wasn’t comfortable so I picked the earliest available tour which was yesterday at 3pm. Unfortunately, that time did not work with my personal work schedule but I still left early and lost hours for this. I get to the property and find it weird that I don’t see anyone outside waiting since it’s 3pm and I start to check through my phone calls to see if I missed a call from them. There were absolutely no phone calls, however there was a text from unknown number folder stating my tour was cancelled and to click on the link to reschedule. I immediately call the company and they do not pick up the phone. After calling 8 times I finally got a hold of someone through my boyfriends phone number. I explain what happened and their response was “oh that’s weird why you receive the message because the property manager is at the property right now. You were never supposed to receive that message.” I immediately turn around to start going back to the property and ask if he can wait a few minutes so we can see this property. I was informed that he was actually on a tour as we speak, which is quite interesting because my tour was at 3pm and was cancelled (at this point it is 3:20pm if that). So again, I asked if he can wait a few minutes since their system cancelled my tour and there was absolutely no phone call communication besides a random link to reschedule. They inform me he is not going to wait since he is approving an application already. Their scheduling system is clearly not working properly where things are getting cancelled and not a single person can explain why. There is very limited phone call communications or accommodations being made for something that their system was at fault for. I understand having an application being approved and there is not much that can be done at that point. It is just frustrating when you leave work early for a tour that had been rescheduled once already and come to find out our tour was cancelled and they gave the tour to someone else instead.
