I do not know where to start

I am currently a commercial plumber and have been in the business/ trade for four and half years. I have currently been reading  two real estate investing books. I am going to get into the boot camp provided on biggerpockets.com. However i keep having the same question know matter what books i read or articles i follow: where do i start? I feel like i have a lot of information but have no idea where to begin and/or what choices to make. I have thought about saving up money for a down payment for a condo/ rental property and renting it out my self until i can find tenants to rent it out. I have also realized there is difference between loans that i can take out, so that i do not have to use my own money. I am a trades man myself and know many other people from different trades/ contractors so i can help out in remodeling processes and maintenance work. Just need some guidance and the right people to talk to. Please advise

Quote from @Michael Matesky:

You are over-thinking it. The steps are right there in the books and right here in the forums:

1. Find a market

2. Find a property

3. Purchase the property

4. Manage the property

Your local market is too expensive to make anything work, so you need to look outside of California. If you're young and single, you should consider moving to another market where you can start off with a househack.
