Banned from messaging?

Question

Hey there! I'm new to being active on BP and am looking to connect with people in Reno, Nevada and nearby areas including Sacramento as I travel there often because my girlfriend's family lives nearby Sac.

After about 4 connection requests I got the message that I was banned from messaging. I want to make sure I'm not breaking any rules and certainly do not want to spam people, just wanted to connect with people nearby our area as the investor community here is small and tight knit, but larger in Sac :)

Any insights would be much appreciated, and apologies if my connections seemed "spammy". If deemed so, I will change my approach immediately.

No, you only have to fear the mods if you are violating the rules. We don't allow any self-promotion, which includes marketing your business outside of the Classifieds. You are welcome to contact people privately and work deals, but if those individuals report you, then you can still get in trouble.

@Jake Andronico - Welcome to BP, it's a great place.  I saw you hitting up the Reno threads, even old ones, which is kinda cool.  Be careful about soliciting, the mods take it seriously.  I had a post removed a few years ago and was upset at the time.  Looking back, I'm glad they take good measures to keep that activity down.  My unsolicited $0.02, avoid sales'y activities, bring real value and advice, you will do great!

It is up to the recipient of a message to decide if they feel it is spam or inappropriate. As @Nathan Gesner a member may report you for an unsolicited message.

My guess is if it was only 4 messages you inocently got cought up in some type of filter. reach out to customer supoort for help. Michael Sato as mantioned may be able to help.

Katie, My first bigger pockets account I had for 10 years and out of no where Bigger Pockets blocked it no explanation I had been telling all my clients to join bigger pockets so I was blown away they randomly blocked me. I tried for a full year to get my messages unblocked but no one in support would help ever so after a year of trying I had to start a new account.
