Top Contributor Ranking?

Question

How is the score calculated for "Top Contributors" in each forum? Is there a way to see someone's score or our own score without being a top contributor? Or is it super-secret, behind-the-scenes magic that is spoken of only in whispered tones? ;)

@Mindy Jensen I thought it was based strictly on posts until I saw Jay with a score of 2.6! I mean, if that's all he gets, the rest of us are out of luck!

I recommend that the "Top Contributors" heading should make it clear which specific Forum it's for. Also, I've noticed that the results can get very skewed away from the INTENDED purpose (wasn't it intended to be about about VOTE ratio)? eg. A particular newbie Wholesaler got all excited, started a thread about having a house under contract, but asked "what do I do now?", got responses from both sides of the endless unlicensed-wholesaler debate, but because every other wannabe/newbie wholesaler wanted to cheer him on, he got more votes than NORMAL (but not "top"), and because he responded to every post, all of a sudden he's the "Top Contributor"? Never mind that the single best educational/cautionary post that also got the most votes - got recognized for their contribution not at all? Here endeth today's rant. Cheers...

Nathan G. , they won't even tell ME! It is a combination of how active you are on the site, and then they threw in something about posts and votes and just for fun, they added some magic spells so you couldn't figure it out. So if you are very active and are giving great advice, you should be finding your way up to those lists soon.

I'm surprised I'm not on this forum's list, though. I post here enough. Apparently NOT enough...

Nathan G. , that's just this forum, which is for Official Announcements or Questions about BiggerPockets. The Top Contributors list here is usually filled with BP employees.
