To get my RE license or not?

Question

So my regular 9-5 contract gig is ending soon. And I'm contemplating getting my RE license. Everyone seems to say it's either a good idea or a bad idea as a real estate investor. Looking to take a poll here on BP. I'm in NJ. All answers and comments appreciated.

High John!  That is a pretty good question and I hope you get several answers that will help you.  It seems that from all the listening I have heard that you ought to wait until you have done some investing first.  I have heard yes and no and it is usually backed by licensed people and the non-licensed people generally say no.  I had a Texas broker license for about 30 years and I have my opinion too.  I think that is great for knowledge but not necessary to have one as an Investor.  It is a good way to save some money but may be too time consuming.  Having one may cause you to say too much.  That may scare some off and might cause to make some people happy.  It kind of depends on your personal schedule and if you are doing all of your learning on a computer or attending a class.

It all depends on you and how you will react to that licensure.  It is a good learning tool.  It can also be a decent networking tool.  It does come down to money and time.  You can go either way and its up to you.  Good luck to you!
