what happens when a tennant dies

does anyone know if i am supposed to collect rent for the month after a Tennant dies or just give the family a month to get belongings out and not collect rent? it is a month to month lease.  if someone can show me the law that would be great so i can show it to the family.

If they were a good tenant and paid the rent on time, heaven. If not, the other place.....
