Why do you need this? Why would you treat someone in the military differently? Run the background check using their Drivers license as I.D. Now if you are offering a military discount (a good thing) then they would need to prove they are in the military if they want the discount. I show my retired military I.D. all the time for discounts.

Your question is too vague. What documentation do you need and what is the purpose of the request? If you are screening their application, you can do so with driver's license and pay stubs like you would anyone else. If the tenant claims to be military and has to break their lease early because they will be stationed somewhere else, then a copy of their Permanent Change of Station (PCS) orders would suffice. Help us help you.

@Lacey A. providing military id card is not normal for active duty, and most are ordered NOT to provides copies of it or for it to be copied, EVER. There is serious security reasons for this, like persons working to get on base that shouldn't be. You put that as a requirement in writing, it's a matter of time before your getting a visit from someone demanding to know why your trying to get id's. If you want their chain of command, you ask, that's it. Ask for who that is and there #, making sure they know your going to double check with them, it's that simple. You want a Sergeant of whatever kind. If you want to know what they do, ask there MOS.

Do you see the person I quoted? My response was in reference to him. At no point in your post did you reference wanting a direct line to the CO. And actually my comment is helpful as I give you a better option than that guys "just call the CO" response. Furthermore, you should be responding to the people asking for more details if you want help. Your question is too vague.

It's really annoying people on these forums assuming they'll have a direct line of communication to their CO. There's something called a chain of command and it can be more useful at times other than trying to get ahold of the CO, depending on the size of the base. If you try and reach the #1 officer at a base the size of Ft Hood or NAS Mayport, good luck. The better option is to just treat them like a normal tenant and get the information on their place of employment. Not difficult as youll most likely be aware of the local installations. If they do f uck up, just start making calls to find out who they directly report to. Most squads want to handle issues at the lowest level.

When they apply they list where they work specifically.

You could request their LES to make sure they are meeting the financial requirements for the property
