Removing Tenants From Property

Posted

I am in the process of closing on a duplex with both units occupied. I am moving into one unit (currently on a month to month lease) and need to ask the current tenant to move out. Is there a specific way to handle this? From the day of closing I need to allow 60 days for the tenant to move out…I’m just not sure how to professionally give proper notice.

Quote from @Bradley Gasparovich:
This is not an eviction. You use eviction when the Tenant fails to pay rent or violates the lease.

In this case, you are using "Notice of Termination" which is just a letter telling them that you are ending their lease on a specific date. It's usually informal, but some states have a recommended/required form.

Go to Google and search for "[STATE NAME] notice of termination" and you'll find plenty of free examples.
