Is Painting a Requirement

I recently purchased my first duplex and landed my first tenant. The side in which they will be living was freshly painted by the previous owner. The tenant did not like the bright green color in two of the rooms, admittedly I have to agree. We made a verbal agreement that they can pick out colors for those rooms and I would paint prior to the move.

When they contacted me with the color they provided a color for every room. The home is 4000 sq ft each side with 2000. This would take a great deal of paint to get done.

Am I required to change the colors? Any advice on the approach here would be greatly appreciated!

Replied

Agree with @Kim Morrissey explain to them that you agreed to paint the two rooms and that's it, and then just go right into proceeding setting up the time to paint them. my rentals come painted, one color on the walls and that's it, i wouldn't go into painting different rooms different colors. and to save your self some trouble down the road, every property you buy, use the same color, you won't have to try and figure out or lookup and see what color you used if you have to fix and repaint something.
